Church of the Holy Spirit music ministries serve a vital role in our church community and our worship. Our mission is to make a “joyful noise to The Lord”. Church of the Holy Spirit musicians serve together to enhance a vibrant, joy filled environment for worshiping our Lord.
Music ministries have been organized to serve God and those who worship with us. Music at CHSA is always a team ministry effort involving people of all ages with diverse backgrounds and gifts. We are music ministers, not performance-oriented musicians. As such, our chief goal is to facilitate meaningful worship among those present. We do this by always directing hearts and minds toward the Holy Spirit’s presence among us. If we as musicians get in the way or in any way draw attention to ourselves, we fall short of our highest calling.
Church of the Holy Spirit rejects the notion that worship should be separated by generation! Because we are an inter-generational congregation, we minister through a variety of styles of music. It is important that we respect the best hymnody and also the praise music of young and old alike who worship together.
Our music responds to scriptural understanding of worship, the ascribing of our highest “worth” to the Lord. We sing traditional hymns that connect the generations, many across centuries of the the Christian faith. Some music is upbeat and contemporary; some is quieter, and more contemplative, music that we pray draws worshipers closer to God.
